Implant Supported Dentures Hanover MD

Elevate Dental Implant Center is happy to provide our patients with various dental implant services under one roof, including implant-supported dentures. Implant-supported dentures are the premier restoration service for patients missing a full arch of teeth.

While traditional dentures will get the job done quickly, patients often struggle with the required lifestyle alterations. Implant-supported dentures minimize the discomforts associated with traditional dentures and allow patients to experience life with a fully functioning, stable smile. They also do not require diet restrictions.

Implant-Supported Dentures in Hanover, MD

Our experienced doctors have helped many patients achieve a better quality of life with implant-supported dentures. Traditional dentures have various inconveniences that make it difficult to enjoy your dental restoration. With implant-supported dentures, patients can look forward to the following benefits:

  • Longer lasting restoration
  • More stability
  • No denture slippage
  • No dietary restrictions
  • Better ability to enunciate
  • Increased confidence and self-esteem
  • Prevention of bone loss and facial sagging

Incorporating dental implants into your restorative dentistry treatment plan can save you many years of discomfort. The implants hold your dentures firmly, allowing you to speak and eat confidently without worrying about denture slippage. You don’t need messy adhesives to keep dentures in your mouth.

This means less maintenance, too. You can just brush your implant-supported dentures like you would natural teeth. They never come out; you don’t need to clean them separately. Implant-supported dentures function like natural teeth, allowing patients to return to their routines and habits after treatment.

Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures rarely require adjustment because the implants prevent bone loss in your jaw, saving you time later in the dental chair. This saves you money in the long run too. While implant-supported dentures are more expensive upfront and require a healing period after the implants are placed, you don’t incur more costs in the future with adjustments or replacements. Traditional dentures can require these multiple times throughout your lifetime.

Implant-Supported Dentures: What To Expect

At Elevate Dental Implant Center, we start everything with a consultation. We want to ensure you’re eligible for dental implants, and implant-supported dentures are the right choice. We need to treat gum disease or other oral health issues before implanting. If you don’t have enough healthy bone structures to support implants, we may need to perform surgical procedures like a bone graft. Your graft will have to heal fully before the implant procedure.

When you’re ready, we will perform the implant surgery. We place as few as four dental implants to support a full denture of missing teeth. The number varies with each patient, and we’ll decide on it during the planning phase of your implant treatment. The implants take around three to six months to fully heal and fuse with the jawbone. We fit you with a temporary restoration during the healing process to reduce discomfort.

After healing, we attach abutments to the top of the implant posts. They attach the posts to the final restoration and hold it in place. The final denture is custom-made for your smile. The size, shape, and color of the false teeth match the rest of your teeth or what looks natural in your smile. Your restoration will blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile, providing an aesthetic solution to tooth loss.

How long will it take my implant-supported dentures to heal?

Patients should expect longer healing times when dental implants are incorporated into a treatment plan. Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures require a surgical procedure. We surgically place the implant posts to fuse together with your jawbone and give you the long-term support you desire.

Following the post-placement procedure, it can take up to six months for the posts to fully fuse together with your jawbone. This process is called osseointegration, replacing your tooth roots and giving your dental restoration the full functionality that your natural teeth once did.

We’ll fit you with a temporary restoration while healing until you get your permanent denture. Although this is a lengthy process, it makes patients’ restoration function much more similar to their natural teeth, reducing the risk of bone loss and gum disease in the long term.
